Nowadays diverse uses have been given to Reverse Osmosis process but desalination has taken the primary one. RO has been used and will be used more
commonly to obtain fresh water in places where it is insufficient, and other sources like lakes or sea water are present. This process has become standard worldwide because of it´s economics and ease of installation and maintenance.
Pre-RO: Prior to process sea the water on a RO system it is recommended also to use other filtering systems as air flotation, clarifying, sand filtration, active carbon and microfiltration. This pre treatment will help prolong the life span of the RO system and enables the system to operate at higher flow rates.
